Nominations for ARID Awards
Do you know someone who has dedicated their career or life to our profession and or community and you would like to nominate them for one of our awards? The two awards that we have are “The Barbara E. Northup Excellence in Community Award” and “The Shirley T. Herald Lifetime Achievement Award” These two awards are to recognize an individual who has gone above and beyond for our profession and community.
If you know someone who fits this description, please nominate them today!
Nominations for these two awards will open prior to ARID’s Biennial conference, where they will be announced during the Biennial Conference Banquet.
More information about the awards are listed below (for a more detailed explanation and the requirements of the awards click the names of the awards below):
- The Barbara E. Northup Excellence in Community Award – This Arkansas Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (ARID) award honors an interpreter who demonstrates outstanding community involvement in the Deaf and/or Deafblind Communities of Arkansas.
- The Shirley T. Herald Lifetime Achievement Award – This Arkansas Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (ARID) award honors an interpreter whose talent, efforts, and body of work has, in a fundamental way, advanced the field of interpreting; whose accomplishments have been acknowledged by professional peers and the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community; and whose work has and will continue to have a lasting influence on interpreters, the profession, and society. The Shirley T. Herald Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes outstanding interpreters whose pioneering spirit, excellent work, and unswerving dedication to the field of interpretation throughout their career has improved society and inspired others.
